What if the gear gets damaged?
Owners set a security deposit when listing their gear. If something happens, the deposit covers repairs. Both parties document gear condition at pickup using photos, so there's a clear record.
How do payments work?
All payments go through Stripe — the same system used by Lyft, Instacart, and thousands of other platforms. Renters pay when they book. Owners get paid to their bank account after the rental is completed.
Is it safe to meet strangers?
All users sign in with Apple (verified identity), all communication happens in-app, and handoffs are confirmed through the app. We also have safety guidelines with tips like meeting in public places during daylight.
What does gswap take?
A flat 10% platform fee from each booking. That's it. No hidden fees, no surge pricing, no annual subscriptions. If you list a board at $40/day, you get $36 per day rented.
What kind of gear can I list?
Snowboards, skis, boots, bindings — basically any snow gear you'd take to the mountain. If it's in decent shape and someone would want to rent it, list it.
Where is gswap available?
We're starting in the Bay Area / Lake Tahoe corridor — the densest concentration of weekend warriors with garages full of gear. More regions coming as the community grows.
